How do you remove the thermostat on a 1994 Mitsubishi Magna TS 4-cylinder without having to replace gasket?

Tools and materials needed:

- Adjustable wrench

- Rag

Procedure:

Note: The engine must be cold before starting this procedure otherwise the coolant inside will be hot and can cause severe injury.

1. Locate the thermostat housing. On a 1994 Mitsubishi Magna TS 4-cylinder engine, it's on the front left side of the engine.

2. Place a rag under the thermostat housing to catch any leaking coolant.

3. Use an adjustable wrench to loosen the two bolts on the thermostat housing.

4. Remove the two bolts and lift off the thermostat housing to remove the old thermostat.

5. Clean the thermostat housing and the gasket surface.

6. Re-insert the old thermostat into the thermostat housing (it should fit right back into its seated position).

7. Replace the thermostat housing gasket and tighten the bolts until snug.

8. Re-attach the thermostat housing and tighten the bolts until snug.

9. Reinstall the radiator cap.

10. Start the engine and check for leaks. If there are no leaks, the procedure is complete.
