- Park your Chrysler on a level surface and turn off the engine.
- Open the hood and locate the negative battery cable. It is usually black and has a negative (-) symbol stamped on it.
- Use a wrench to loosen the nut that holds the negative battery cable to the battery terminal.
- Remove the negative battery cable and set it aside.
2. Locate The Oil Pressure Sending Unit
- The oil pressure sending unit is usually located on the side of the engine block, near the top.
- It is a small, cylindrical device with a single wire connected to it.
3. Disconnect The Wire From The Oil Pressure Sending Unit
- Use a wrench to loosen the nut that holds the wire to the oil pressure sending unit.
- Pull the wire off of the oil pressure sending unit.
4. Remove The Oil Pressure Sending Unit
- Use a wrench to loosen the nut that holds the oil pressure sending unit to the engine block.
- Remove the oil pressure sending unit from the engine block.
5. Install The New Oil Pressure Sending Unit
- Apply a thin coat of sealant to the threads of the new oil pressure sending unit.
- Screw the new oil pressure sending unit into the engine block.
- Tighten the nut that holds the oil pressure sending unit to the engine block.
6. Connect The Wire To The Oil Pressure Sending Unit
- Push the wire onto the oil pressure sending unit.
- Tighten the nut that holds the wire to the oil pressure sending unit.
7. Reconnect The Negative Battery Cable
- Attach the negative battery cable to the battery terminal.
- Tighten the nut that holds the negative battery cable to the battery terminal.
8. Start The Engine
- Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
- Check for oil leaks around the oil pressure sending unit.
- If there are no leaks, the oil pressure sending unit has been successfully replaced.
