How do you replace heater blend door passenger side 2010 Ford explorer Sport trac?

Tools and Materials:

- Replacement Heater Blend Door

- Phillips-Head Screwdriver

- Flat-Head Screwdriver

- Flashlight

- Zip-ties

- Needle Nose Pliers

- 7mm Socket and Ratchet

- 10mm Socket and Ratchet

Instructions:

1. Disconnect Battery:

- Disconnect your vehicle's battery to prevent any electrical mishaps.

2. Locate Heater Core Housing:

- Open your vehicle's hood and locate the black heater core housing. It is usually found near the front of the engine bay, behind the dashboard.

3. Remove Dashboard Cover:

- Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the screws holding the dashboard cover in place. Carefully lift and remove the cover.

4. Locate Heater Blend Door:

- Use a flashlight to locate the heater blend door (a flap that controls airflow) inside the heater core housing. It is usually near the center of the housing.

5. Disconnect Actuator Linkage:

- Disconnect the actuator linkage connected to the blend door. There may be a release clip or screw holding it in place. Use pliers or a screwdriver to detach it.

6. Remove Blend Door Motor Assembly:

- Remove the screws holding the heater blend door motor assembly in place. The motor is attached to the blend door. Carefully remove the assembly by pulling it towards you.

7. Remove Blend Door:

- Once the motor assembly is out, you can remove the old blend door. Use a flat-head screwdriver to gently pry the blend door out of its slot. Be careful not to break the door or the surrounding plastic.

8. Install New Blend Door:

- Insert the new blend door into the slot. Make sure that it fits securely and doesn't move too freely.

9. Reinstall Blend Door Motor Assembly:

- Reattach the blend door motor assembly by re-installing the mounting screws. Tighten them securely.

10. Reconnect Actuator Linkage:

- Re-connect the actuator linkage to the blend door. Ensure it is properly seated and locked.

11. Replace Dashboard Cover:

- Carefully replace the dashboard cover and re-install the screws or clips that held it in place.

12. Reconnect Battery:

- Reconnect the battery to restore power to your vehicle.

13. Test Airflow:

- Start your vehicle and turn on the climate control system. Check if the airflow is now being directed correctly from the vents.

If the blend door replacement is successful, your vehicle's climate control system should work normally again.
