2. Place an oil pan under the drain plug.
3. Loosen the drain plug and allow the oil to drain completely.
4. Replace the drain plug.
5. Locate the oil filter on the side of the engine. It is a cylindrical-shaped object with a black cap.
6. Use an oil filter wrench to loosen the oil filter.
7. Remove the oil filter and discard it.
8. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.
9. Screw the new oil filter onto the engine until it is hand-tight.
10. Use the oil filter wrench to tighten the oil filter an additional 1/2 to 3/4 turn.
