How do you determine the rear axle ratio 3.55 3.75 or 4.10 in your 2000 Explorer 4D 4x4 4.0 SOHC V6 to towing capacity?

The rear axle ratio is usually stamped on the axle tube. On some Ford Explorers, the rear axle ratio is also included in the vehicle's identification number.

Once you know the rear axle ratio, you can use the following table to determine the towing capacity of your 2000 Explorer 4D 4x4 4.0 SOHC V6:

| Axle Ratio | Towing Capacity |

| ----------|-----------|

| 3.55 | 4,500 lbs |

| 3.73 | 4,750 lbs |

| 4.10 | 5,000 lbs |

If the rear axle ratio of your 2000 Explorer is not listed in the table, please consult your vehicle's owner's manual for more information.
