* New thermostat (OEM part number: 05181911AA)
* Gasket sealant
Instructions:
1. Open the hood of the vehicle and remove the engine cover if equipped.
2. Locate the thermostat housing on the front of the engine. It is a round, black housing with two hoses connected to it.
3. Use a flat-head screwdriver to loosen the hose clamps on the thermostat housing. Slide the clamps back on the hoses.
4. Use the Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the two screws holding the thermostat housing to the engine.
5. Pull the thermostat housing off the engine, be careful not to spill the coolant that is inside.
6. Remove the old thermostat from the housing. It is located inside a gasket.
7. Apply a thin layer of gasket sealant to the new thermostat gasket.
8. Place the new thermostat in the housing, being sure to align the gasket correctly.
9. Replace the thermostat housing on the engine and tighten the screws.
10. Replace the hose clamps and tighten them securely.
11. Refill the coolant reservoir with a mixture of 50% water and 50% antifreeze.
12. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to circulate the coolant throughout the system.
13. Check the coolant level and add more if necessary.
Note: Be sure to dispose of the old coolant and thermostat properly. Coolant is toxic and should not be poured down the drain.
