2. The camshaft timing mark is located on the camshaft sprocket. It is a dot that is aligned with a pointer on the cylinder head.
1999-2005 PT Cruiser Timing Marks
1. Turn the crankshaft pulley until the timing mark "0" is aligned with the pointer.
2. The camshaft timing mark "I" should now be aligned with the pointer on the rear cam bearing cap.
To align the timing marks when installing a new timing belt:
1. Set the crankshaft timing mark "0" to align with the pointer.
2. Turn the camshaft sprocket clockwise while holding the belt taut until the timing mark "I" is aligned with the pointer.
3. Install the timing belt and tensioner, following the manufacturer's instructions.
