How can you remove and install a 1996 Ford Taurus 3.0 engine with floor shift 4 wheel drive transmission?

Step 1: - Disconnect battery

Disconnect the battery. This will help to prevent any sparks or electrical shock while you are working on the engine.

Step 2: - Drain coolant and oil

- Drain the engine oil and coolant. This can be done by removing the oil drain plug and the coolant drain plug. Allow all of the fluid to drain completely.

- Remove the air filter assembly and disconnect the throttle cable.

Step 3: - Remove accessories and hoses

- Remove the various accessories that are attached to the engine, such as the alternator, power steering pump, and air conditioning compressor.

- Disconnect the hoses that are attached to the engine, such as the radiator hoses and the fuel lines.

Step 4: - Disconnect wiring

Disconnect the wiring that is attached to the engine, such as the spark plug wires and the oxygen sensor wires.

Step 5: - Remove transmission and transfer case

- Disconnect the transmission mount and remove all the transmission and transfer case bolts.

- Lower the transmission and transfer case together using an engine hoist.

Step 6: - Jack up the front of the car.

- Securely support the car, lift the front of the vehicle, and securely support it with jack stands.

Step 7: - Drain the engine oil and coolant.

- Open the oil drain plug and oil filter cap to allow the oil to drain into an oil drain pan.

- Disconnect the radiator drain plug or open the radiator drain valve to allow the coolant to drain into a drain pan.

Step 8: - Remove the starter.

- Disconnect the wiring harness from the starter.

- Remove the bolts that attach the starter to the engine and transmission bell housing.

- Lift the starter off the engine and transmission.

Step 9: - Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold.

- Locate the bolts or nuts that connect the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold.

- Use a wrench to loosen and remove the bolts or nuts.

- Carefully separate the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold.

Step 10: - Disconnect the fuel line and fuel filter.

- Locate the fuel line that connects to the fuel filter.

- Use a wrench to loosen and remove the fuel line fitting from the fuel filter.

- Disconnect the fuel filter from the fuel line.

Step 11: - Disconnect the transmission cooler lines, brake lines, and clutch cable (manual transmission only).

- Locate the transmission cooler lines, brake lines, and clutch cable (manual transmission only).

- Disconnect the transmission cooler lines, brake lines, and clutch cable (manual transmission only).

Step 12: - Remove the accessory belt.

- Locate the accessory belt that drives the alternator, water pump, and power steering pump.

- Use a wrench to loosen the tensioner pulley bolt and remove the accessory belt.

Step 13: - Remove the spark plugs.

- Use a spark plug socket and ratchet to remove the spark plugs from the engine.

Step 14: - Remove the upper and lower intake manifolds.

- Disconnect the electrical connectors and vacuum lines from the upper intake manifold.

- Remove the bolts that attach the upper intake manifold to the engine.

- Lift the upper intake manifold off the engine.

- Disconnect the electrical connectors and vacuum lines from the lower intake manifold.

- Remove the bolts that attach the lower intake manifold to the engine.

- Lift the lower intake manifold off the engine.

- Remove the oil filter.

Step 15: - Lift and support the engine.

- Use an engine hoist or support to carefully lift the engine and support it securely.

Step 16: - Remove the engine mount bolts.

- Locate the engine mount bolts on the left and right sides of the engine.

- Remove the engine mount bolts.

Step 17: - Remove the engine from the car.

- Carefully lower the engine from the car.

- Guide the engine out of the engine compartment.

Step 18: - Installation is the reverse of removal.
