Timing on a 1991 ford 351?

To set the timing on a 1991 Ford 351:

Tools Needed:

- Timing light

- 3/8-inch socket wrench

- 10 mm socket

- 13 mm socket

- 5/8 inch socket and extension

- Flathead screwdriver

1. Locate the timing marks on the engine. The timing marks are usually located on the harmonic balancer and the timing cover.

2. Disconnect the Electronic Control Module (ECM) connector. The ECM connector is usually located on the driver's side of the engine near the firewall.

3. Start the engine and let it warm up to operating temperature.

4. Turn off the engine and connect the timing light to the battery and spark plug #1 wire.

5. Point the timing light at the timing marks.

6. Adjust the distributor until the timing mark on the harmonic balancer is aligned with the timing mark on the timing cover.

7. Tighten the distributor hold-down bolt.

8. Disconnect the timing light and reconnect the ECM connector.
