The long answer: the KA24E was a 2.4l engine used in the Nissan Hardbody from 1989-1997. The Z24 was used in the 720 from 1984-1986. Physically both engines are the same, but there are a few minor differences to note before attempting the swap. The KA24E has a different oil filter location than the Z24 (front vs rear), an electronic distributor (vs points), different motor mounts, different water pump, and the power steering pump is driven off of the timing chain (mechanical in the Z24). All of these parts are interchangeable between the KA24 and the Z24, but you may have to swap a few things to make it work.
