1. Locate the diagnostic port under the dashboard, usually near the driver's side kick panel.
2. Connect a code reader or scanner to the diagnostic port.
3. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position without starting the engine.
4. Follow the prompts on the code reader or scanner to retrieve and clear any trouble codes.
5. Once the trouble codes have been cleared, turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position.
6. Disconnect the code reader or scanner from the diagnostic port.
7. Start the engine and verify that the check engine light has been reset.
Note: If the check engine light comes back on after resetting it, there may be an underlying issue that needs to be addressed. It's recommended to have the vehicle diagnosed by a qualified mechanic to identify and fix the cause of the check engine light.
