Disconnect the electrical connector. Press down on the locking tab and pull the connector straight off of the sensor.
Unscrew the speed sensor. Use a 10mm socket to loosen the bolt that holds the speed sensor in place. Once the bolt is loose, you can turn the sensor counterclockwise by hand to remove it.
Inspect the speed sensor. Look for any damage to the sensor or the O-ring. If the O-ring is damaged, it must be replaced.
Install the new speed sensor. Apply a small amount of grease to the O-ring of the new speed sensor. Then, screw the sensor into the transaxle until it is snug. Tighten the bolt that holds the sensor in place.
Reconnect the electrical connector. Push the connector onto the sensor until it snaps into place.
Test the speed sensor. Start the engine and drive the vehicle at a speed of 25 mph or more. The speedometer should read accurately.
