- New oil (check your owner's manual for the correct type and amount)
Procedure:
1. Park your car on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
2. Locate the oil drain plug. It is a bolt located on the bottom of the oil pan.
3. Place the oil drain pan under the oil drain plug and loosen the plug with a 17mm socket.
4. Allow the oil to drain completely.
5. Remove the oil filter with an oil filter wrench.
6. Clean the oil pan mating surfaces thoroughly with a flathead screwdriver and pry bar. Remove all traces of the old gasket.
7. Apply a thin coat of new gasket maker to one side of the new oil pan gasket.
8. Position the new oil pan gasket onto the oil pan and align it carefully.
9. Reinstall the oil drain plug with a 17mm socket.
10. Reinstall the oil filter. Tighten the oil filter until it is snug.
11. Lower the car.
12. Add new oil to the engine through the oil fill cap. Use a funnel to prevent spilling.
13. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
14. Check the oil level and ensure that it is full.
15. Inspect the oil pan for any leaks.
Your oil pan gasket has now been successfully replaced.
