1. Park the car in a safe location. Engage the parking brake.
2. Relieve fuel system pressure. With the engine off, start the car for 2 seconds and then turn it off. Repeat this process 2-3 times. This should release fuel system pressure.
3. Locate the fuel pump. The fuel pump is located under the car, near the fuel tank.
4. Disconnect the fuel lines. Use a pair of pliers to pinch the fuel line clips and remove the hoses from the fuel pump.
5. Remove the fuel pump mounting bolts. There are three bolts that secure the fuel pump to the tank. Use a 5/16" socket to remove these bolts.
6. Remove the fuel pump. Once the bolts are removed, you can carefully remove the fuel pump from the tank. Be careful not to damage the fuel pump assembly.
7. Inspect and replace the fuel pump if needed. Inspect the fuel pump for any damage. If the fuel pump is damaged, replace it with a new one.
8. Reinstall the fuel pump. Reinstall the fuel pump in the reverse order of removal. Make sure to tighten all bolts and fittings securely.
9. Test the fuel system. Start the car and check for any leaks. If there are no leaks, the fuel pump has been successfully replaced.
