Tools Needed:
- Socket wrench
- Extensions
- 17mm socket
Instructions:
1. Disconnect the battery's negative terminal: The negative terminal is usually marked with a black or grey color and has a minus symbol. Loosen the bolt on the battery terminal using the appropriate socket wrench.
2. Remove the trunk liner: Start by removing the plastic push pins that hold the trunk liner in place. You may need to use a flathead screwdriver to pry them out gently. Be careful not to damage the push pins. Once all the push pins have been removed, carefully lift the trunk liner and set it aside.
3. Remove the rubber dust boot cover of the strut: Using a flathead screwdriver, pry off the rubber dust boot cover that surrounds the strut. Be cautious when removing the cover, as there may be some oil inside it.
4. Locate the upper strut nut: Once the rubber dust boot cover has been removed, you will see the top nut of the strut.
5. Use an extension bar to reach the nut: Use an extension bar to attach to your socket wrench and reach the nut. Break loose the top strut nut, then complete removing it.
6. Continue with strut removal and replacement: You can now remove the strut and replace it, if necessary. Remember to reconnect the battery's negative terminal when finished.
