.) Disconnect the battery. Before starting any electrical work, it is important to disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical shock or damage to the vehicle's electrical system.
.) Locate the brake controller wiring harness. The wiring harness for the brake controller is usually located under the dashboard. It may be necessary to remove some trim pieces to gain access to the wiring harness.
.) Connect the brake controller wiring harness to the brake controller. Match the colored wires from the wiring harness to the corresponding terminals on the brake controller. Use the crimpers to secure the connections.
.) Connect the black wire to the ground terminal. The black wire from the wiring harness is the ground wire. Connect this wire to a metal surface in the vehicle using a Phillips screwdriver.
.) Connect the blue wire to the brake light switch. The blue wire from the wiring harness is the brake light switch wire. Splice this wire into the wire that goes to the brake light switch.
.) Connect the white wire to the vehicle's ignition. The white wire from the wiring harness is the ignition wire. Splice this wire into the ignition wire.
.) Test the brake controller. Turn on the vehicle and press the brake pedal. The brake controller should light up and the brake lights should come on.
.) Re-install the trim pieces and reconnect the battery. Once the brake controller is tested and working properly, re-install the trim pieces and reconnect the battery.
