- Flat-head screwdriver
- Phillips-head screwdriver
- 10mm socket wrench
- Fuel line pliers
- Safety glasses
1. Open the fuel filler door and remove the gas cap.
2. Locate the fuel pump access panel in the trunk. It is usually located under the carpet on the driver's side.
3. Remove the screws holding the fuel pump access panel in place and lift the panel off.
4. Disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel pump. Use the fuel line pliers to loosen the hose clamps and then pull the hoses off of the fuel pump.
5. Remove the electrical connector from the fuel pump.
6. Remove the bolts holding the fuel pump in place. There are usually four bolts, two on each side of the fuel pump.
7. Gently lift the fuel pump out of the fuel tank. Be careful not to spill any fuel.
8. Install the new fuel pump in the reverse order of removal.
Here are some additional tips:
- Before you start working, make sure that the vehicle is turned off and that the keys are out of the ignition.
- Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes from any fuel that may spray out.
- If you spill any fuel, clean it up immediately with a rag or paper towels.
- Do not smoke or use any open flames near the fuel system.
