Note: Make sure you have the correct transmission fluid for your vehicle or you could damage your transmission.
1. Locate the transmission fluid dipstick. The transmission fluid dipstick is located on the passenger side of the engine bay, near the back. It is a yellow or orange plastic stick with a red handle.
2. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean. Use a clean rag or paper towel to wipe off any old fluid from the dipstick.
3. Reinsert the dipstick and check the fluid level. The fluid level should be between the "FULL" and "ADD" marks on the dipstick. If the fluid level is low, you will need to add fluid.
4. Open the transmission fluid filler plug. The transmission fluid filler plug is located on the top of the transmission, near the front. It is a black plastic plug with a 17mm bolt head.
5. Add transmission fluid. Use a funnel to add transmission fluid to the transmission until the fluid level is between the "FULL" and "ADD" marks on the dipstick.
6. Replace the transmission fluid filler plug. Tighten the filler plug until it is snug.
7. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. This will circulate the new transmission fluid throughout the transmission.
8. Check the transmission fluid level again. Make sure the fluid level is still between the "FULL" and "ADD" marks on the dipstick.
