How do you change the valve cover gasket on a 1990 Toyota Cressida with straight 6-cylinder engine?

Tools:

- Metric socket set

- Ratchet

- Pliers

- Flat-head screwdriver

- Spark plug wrench

- Oil filter wrench

- New valve cover gasket

- RTV silicone sealant

- Oil

Procedure:

1. Start by removing the negative terminal from the battery to disconnect power from the vehicle's electrical system.

2. Remove the spark plug wires using a spark plug wrench.

3. Remove the oil filter using an oil filter wrench. Allow the oil to drain completely.

4. Remove the top radiator hose clamp and pull off the hose to allow more working room for removing the valve cover.

5. Use a flat-head screwdriver to remove the old valve cover gasket. Scrape away any remaining gasket material from both surfaces.

6. Clean the surface of the valve cover and the cylinder head where the gasket will seat with a rag dampened with solvent.

7. Apply a thin bead of RTV silicone sealant to the upper surface of the new valve cover gasket.

8. Position the new valve cover gasket onto the cylinder head, ensuring that it seats correctly.

9. Replace the oil filter.

10. Secure the top radiator hose and tighten the clamp.

11. Reattach the spark plug wires.

12. Add oil to the engine until it reaches the full mark on the dipstick.

13. Reconnect the negative terminal to the battery.

14. Start the engine and check for leaks.

It's important to follow the steps accurately to ensure a proper seal and prevent any oil leaks.
