What does code P1400 on 1999 Nissan altima mean check engine light on?

P1400 - EGR System

The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system reduces the NOx (Nitrogen Oxides) emissions by recirculating a portion of the exhaust gas back into the engine. The P1400 code is set when the Engine Control Module (ECM) detects a problem with the EGR system.

Possible Causes:
