1. Park your car in a safe location and apply the parking brake.
2. Open the trunk of your car.
3. Locate the tail light assembly. There are two tail light assemblies, one on each side of the car. The brake light bulb is located in the red section of the tail light assembly.
4. Remove the tail light assembly. There are two screws that hold the tail light assembly in place. Remove these screws and then carefully remove the tail light assembly from the car.
5. Remove the old brake light bulb. The brake light bulb is held in place by a twist-lock mechanism. Turn the bulb counterclockwise to remove it.
6. Install the new brake light bulb. Insert the new brake light bulb into the socket and turn it clockwise to lock it in place.
7. Reinstall the tail light assembly. Carefully align the tail light assembly with the mounting holes and then insert the screws. Tighten the screws until the tail light assembly is secure.
8. Test the brake lights. Turn on the headlights and press the brake pedal. The brake lights should illuminate.
If the brake lights do not illuminate, check that the brake light bulbs are properly installed and that the tail light assembly is properly seated. If the brake lights still do not illuminate, you may need to replace the brake light switch.
