Once you have the code, you must then clear the code from the computer. To do this, connect your scan tool or diagnostic box to the vehicle and select the "clear codes" or "erase codes" function.
Some Volvo models may also have a "check engine reset" switch located under the dash or in the engine bay.
Press and hold this button for 5-10 seconds or until the check engine light turns off.
If you are unable to clear the check engine light with a scan tool or diagnostic box, you may need to take your vehicle to a qualified mechanic.
NOTE: If the check engine light comes back on after you have cleared the code, it means that there is still a problem with your vehicle that needs to be addressed. You should have your vehicle diagnosed by a qualified mechanic to determine the cause of the problem.
