The transmission fluid on a 1986 Mercedes 560 SL can be added through the transmission fluid fill plug. This plug is located on the driver's side of the transmission, near the bottom. It is a 17mm hex head plug. To add transmission fluid, simply remove the plug and pour in the fluid until it begins to overflow. Then, replace the plug and tighten it securely.
