Disconnect the fuel pump fuse or relay: This is to prevent fuel from being pumped into the engine while priming the oil pump.
Locate the oil pressure sensor: This is located on the upper left-hand side of the cylinder head, near the front of the engine. It has a single electrical connector.
Add Oil Reservoir: Pour 4-5 quarts of engine oil into the oil reservoir.
Press oil pressure sensor: Use a 24mm wrench and remove the oil pressure sensor. Using your finger, press the oil pressure sending unit connector pin into the engine block. This will mechanically activate the oil pump.
Crank the engine Use a socket wrench and turn the crankshaft bolt (located beneath the harmonic balancer) clockwise until you can feel resistance. Repeat this step several times until you can feel the engine begin to build up oil pressure.
Release oil pressure sensor: Replace the oil pressure sensor and reconnect the electrical connector.
Recheck Oil Reservoir: Check oil reservoir for oil. Refill if empty or low on oil.
Start the engine: Start the engine and allow it to run for several minutes. Check for any leaks or abnormal noises.
It's important to prime the oil pump before starting the engine to ensure that all the vital engine components receive oil and are properly lubricated.
