* 3/8-inch drive ratchet
* 6-inch extension
* 10 mm socket
* Rags
* Clean diesel fuel
* New fuel filter (Motorcraft FD-4615 or equivalent)
Instructions:
1. Locate the fuel filter. It is located on the driver's side of the engine, near the back.
2. Remove the fuel filter cap. Use the 10 mm socket and ratchet to loosen the filter cap.
3. Remove the old fuel filter. Pull the old filter straight up to remove it.
4. Discard the old fuel filter and o-ring.
5. Inspect the fuel filter housing for debris or damage. Clean it if necessary with clean diesel fuel and a rag.
6. Install the new fuel filter. Push the new filter into the housing until it clicks into place.
7. Replace the fuel filter cap. Tighten the filter cap until it is snug.
8. Prime the fuel system. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position for a few seconds, then turn it off. Repeat this process several times until fuel starts to flow from the filter cap.
9. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check for leaks around the fuel filter. If there are any leaks, tighten the filter cap until the leak stops.
Tips:
* When removing the fuel filter cap, be careful not to spill any diesel fuel.
* If you do spill any diesel fuel, clean it up immediately with a rag.
* Be careful not to over-tighten the filter cap, as this can damage the threads.
