How to Change the Brake Light on a 2001 Intrepid

Rear Turn Signal & Brake Light

Tools Needed

- Flashlight

- Flat blade screwdriver

- Phillips head screwdriver

- Replacement bulbs (7440 and 3157)

Note:

- Park your car in a safe, well-lit location and engage the parking brake.

- Turn off the lights and ignition.

- Allow the car to cool down if you have been driving it.

- If the bulbs are hot, allow them to cool down before handling them to avoid getting burned.

1. Locate the brake light assembly on the rear of your Intrepid. It is the red lens on the side of the vehicle that you press down on when driving to illuminate the brake light.

2. Use the flat blade screwdriver to pry up the clips that hold the brake light lens in place. There should be two clips on either side of the lens.

3. Once the clips are released, carefully remove the brake light lens from the assembly. Be careful not to drop the lens.

4. Locate the brake light bulb. It is the larger of the two bulbs in the assembly.

5. Use the Phillips head screwdriver to turn the brake light bulb counterclockwise and remove it from the socket.

6. Insert the new brake light bulb into the socket and turn it clockwise until it is secure.

7. Reinstall the brake light lens and press down on the clips to secure it in place.

8. Repeat the process for the other side, if needed.

9. Turn on your car and check that the brake lights are working properly.
