- Park the Audi A6 on a level surface.
- Engage the parking brake and turn off the engine.
- Allow the engine to cool down.
- Raise the front of the vehicle using a jack and jack stands.
Step 2: Locate the Automatic Gearbox
The automatic gearbox is located at the front of the vehicle, under the engine.
Step 3: Remove the Oil Pan
- Locate the oil pan beneath the automatic gearbox.
- Remove the bolts securing the oil pan to the gearbox.
- Carefully pry the oil pan off the gearbox, taking care not to spill any oil.
Step 4: Clean the Oil Pan
- Clean the oil pan thoroughly, removing any dirt or debris.
- Pay special attention to the area around the oil filter.
Step 5: Replace the Oil Filter
- Locate the oil filter in the oil pan.
- Unscrew the oil filter using an appropriate wrench.
- Discard the old oil filter.
- Screw a new oil filter into place, hand-tightening until snug.
- Do not overtighten the oil filter.
Step 6: Reinstall the Oil Pan
- Apply a thin layer of sealant to the gasket surface of the oil pan.
- Carefully place the oil pan back onto the gearbox.
- Secure the oil pan with the bolts removed earlier.
Step 7: Refill the Automatic Gearbox with Oil
- Locate the oil fill plug on the top of the automatic gearbox.
- Remove the oil fill plug and insert a funnel.
- Pour in the recommended amount of automatic transmission fluid (ATF).
- Check the automatic transmission fluid level using the dipstick.
- Ensure the automatic transmission fluid level is between the FULL and ADD marks on the dipstick.
Step 8: Lower the Vehicle
Carefully lower the vehicle off the jack stands.
Step 9: Test the Automatic Gearbox
Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
Shift through the automatic gearbox gears, ensuring they engage smoothly.
Test the automatic gearbox for proper functioning.
