- New transmission fluid (check your owner's manual for the recommended type and amount)
- A transmission fluid drain pan
- A funnel
- A 3/8-inch socket wrench
- A long-handled flat screwdriver
Instructions:
1. Locate the transmission fluid drain plug. On a 1994 F150, it is located on the driver's side of the transmission, near the bottom.
2. Place the transmission fluid drain pan under the drain plug.
3. Use the 3/8-inch socket wrench to loosen the drain plug.
4. Allow the transmission fluid to drain completely into the drain pan.
5. Replace the drain plug and tighten it securely.
6. Locate the transmission fluid fill plug. On a 1994 F150, it is located on the passenger side of the transmission, near the top.
7. Use the long-handled flat screwdriver to pry open the fill plug.
8. Insert the funnel into the fill plug opening.
9. Add new transmission fluid to the transmission until it begins to drip out of the fill plug hole.
10. Replace the fill plug and tighten it securely.
11. Check the transmission fluid level using the dipstick. The fluid level should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick.
12. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
13. Check the transmission fluid level again. If necessary, add more fluid to bring the level up to the "full" mark on the dipstick.
Tips:
- Be sure to use the correct type of transmission fluid for your 1994 F150. Using the wrong type of fluid can cause damage to the transmission.
- If the transmission fluid is very dark or smells burnt, it may be time for a transmission fluid flush. A transmission fluid flush is a more comprehensive procedure that involves removing and replacing all of the transmission fluid in the transmission.
