How do you take the fuel filter out of a 1996 ford explorer?

1. Locate the fuel filter. The fuel filter on a 1996 Ford Explorer is located under the vehicle, near the rear axle. It is a cylindrical-shaped component with two fuel lines connected to it.

2. Relieve the fuel pressure. Before removing the fuel filter, you need to relieve the fuel pressure in the system. To do this, start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Then, turn off the engine and disconnect the negative battery cable.

3. Disconnect the fuel lines. Once the fuel pressure has been relieved, you can disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel filter. Use a wrench to loosen the fuel line nuts, and then pull the fuel lines off of the filter.

4. Remove the fuel filter. Once the fuel lines have been disconnected, you can remove the fuel filter. Unscrew the fuel filter mounting bracket, and then lift the fuel filter out of the vehicle.

5. Install the new fuel filter. Insert the new fuel filter into the vehicle, and then screw the fuel filter mounting bracket back into place. Connect the fuel lines to the fuel filter, and then tighten the fuel line nuts.

6. Start the engine. Once the new fuel filter has been installed, you can start the engine. Check for any leaks, and then tighten the fuel line nuts if necessary.
