1. Safety Precautions:
- Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the parking brake is engaged.
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal to avoid electrical hazards.
2. Locate the Fuel Pump Assembly:
- Open the trunk of the vehicle and remove the carpet or lining to expose the fuel pump access panel.
3. Remove the Access Panel:
- Unscrew or unbolt the access panel to gain access to the fuel pump assembly.
4. Disconnect Fuel Lines and Electrical Connectors:
- Disconnect the fuel lines by loosening the clamps and pulling them off the fuel pump.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors attached to the fuel pump.
5. Remove the Fuel Pump Assembly:
- Remove the fuel pump retaining ring or bolts.
- Gently lift the fuel pump assembly out of the fuel tank.
6. Transfer Fuel Level Sending Unit:
- The fuel level sending unit may be attached to the old pump.
- Carefully remove it and transfer it to the new fuel pump.
7. Install the New Fuel Pump Assembly:
- Place the new fuel pump assembly into the fuel tank.
- Secure it using the retaining ring or bolts.
8. Reconnect Fuel Lines and Electrical Connectors:
- Reconnect the fuel lines by pushing them onto the fuel pump and securing them with clamps.
- Reconnect the electrical connectors.
9. Replace the Access Panel:
- Reinstall the access panel by screwing or bolting it back into place.
10. Reconnect the Battery:
- Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
11. Test the Fuel System:
- Turn on the ignition switch to the "ON" position without starting the engine.
- Check for any fuel leaks around the fuel pump assembly and fuel lines.
- If there are no leaks, start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to ensure proper fuel flow.
