1. Gather Tools and Parts:
- Replacement Ignition Switch
- Flathead screwdriver or trim removal tool
- Torx wrench or screwdriver
- Socket set
- Flashlight
2. Disconnect the Battery:
- To ensure safety, disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
3. Remove the Steering Wheel Cover:
- Locate and remove the screws that secure the steering wheel cover or airbag cover (if equipped).
- Carefully remove the cover or airbag to access the ignition switch.
4. Remove the Ignition Switch Cover:
- Remove any screws or trim pieces that secure the ignition switch cover.
- The ignition switch cover is usually located around the ignition switch.
5. Remove the Steering Wheel:
- Remove the steering wheel nut using a socket wrench.
- Wiggle the steering wheel back and forth while pulling it towards you to detach it from the steering column.
6. Disconnect the Ignition Switch Wiring:
- Locate the ignition switch wiring harness.
- Carefully disconnect the electrical connectors by pressing on the release tabs.
- Note the position and color of each wire for reinstallation.
7. Remove the Ignition Switch:
- There are usually two Torx screws securing the ignition switch. Remove them.
- Slide out the old ignition switch from the column.
8. Install the New Ignition Switch:
- Insert the new ignition switch into the column and secure it with the Torx screws.

10. Attach the Steering Wheel Cover:
- Reattach the steering wheel cover or airbag (if applicable) and secure it with the screws removed earlier.
11. Reconnect the Battery:
- Reconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
12. Test the Ignition Switch:
- Turn the key in the new ignition switch to make sure it functions correctly and starts the engine.
