1. Disconnect the battery. This is a vital safety measure that will prevent any electrical accidents while you are working on the ignition barrel. To do this, use a wrench to loosen the negative battery terminal (the one marked with the minus sign) and disconnect it from the battery.
2. Remove the steering wheel. To do this, you will need a steering wheel puller. Once you have removed the steering wheel, you will see the ignition barrel.
3. Remove the ignition barrel bolts. There are two bolts that hold the ignition barrel in place. Use a wrench to loosen these bolts and remove them.
4. Pull out the ignition barrel. Once the bolts are removed, you can pull out the ignition barrel. Be careful not to damage the wiring that is connected to the ignition barrel.
5. Install the new ignition barrel. Insert the new ignition barrel into the steering column and align it with the mounting holes.
6. Insert the ignition barrel bolts. Insert the bolts that you removed in step 3 into the mounting holes and tighten them.
7. Reattach the steering wheel. Reattach the steering wheel to the steering column and tighten the bolts that hold it in place.
8. Reconnect the battery. Reconnect the negative battery terminal that you disconnected in step 1.
9. Test the ignition. Turn the key in the ignition barrel to make sure that it works properly.
