- Put on safety glasses and gloves.
- Engage the parking brake, and chock the wheels.
- Turn off the engine and allow it to cool completely.
- Disconnect the battery.
2) Locate the fuel pump.
- The fuel pump is located in the fuel tank.
- To access the fuel pump, you’ll need to remove the fuel tank.
3) Remove the fuel tank.
- To remove the fuel tank, disconnect all the cables that are attached to it.
- Use a wrench to loosen the bolts that secure the fuel tank to the frame of the car.
- Use a pry bar to lower the fuel tank.
4) Remove the fuel pump.
- The fuel pump is located in the fuel tank.
- To remove it you’ll need to use a wrench to disconnect the fuel line and the electrical wires that are connected to the pump.
- Use a screwdriver to remove the screws that secure the fuel pump to the tank.
- Lift the fuel pump out of the tank.
5) Install the new fuel pump.
- Place the new fuel pump into the fuel tank.
- Start the screws that secure the fuel pump to the tank.
- Connect the fuel line and electrical wires to the pump.
6) Replace the fuel tank.
- Use a pry bar to raise the fuel tank.
- Start the bolts that secure the fuel tank to the frame of the car.
- Connect all the cables that are attached to the fuel tank.
7) Test the fuel pump.
- Turn on the fuel pump and check for leaks.
- If there are no leaks, start the vehicle and check for any issues with the engine’s performance.
