1. Gather the necessary tools and parts.
- External fuel pump (EFI)
- Fuel filter
- Fuel lines
- Connectors
- Wrench
- Socket set
- Screwdriver
- Pliers
- Safety goggles
2. Prepare the vehicle.
- Park the vehicle on a level surface.
- Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
- Set the parking brake.
3. Disconnect the battery.
- Open the hood and locate the battery.
- Remove the negative battery terminal cable using a wrench.
4. Locate the OE fuel pump.
- The OE fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank.
5. Remove the OE fuel pump.
- Disconnect the fuel lines and electrical connectors from the fuel pump.
- Remove the fuel tank sending unit.
- Remove the fuel pump from the tank.
6. Install the fuel pump.
- Insert the fuel pump into the tank and connect the fuel tank sending unit.
- Connect the fuel lines and electrical connectors to the fuel pump.
7. Install the fuel filter.
- Connect the fuel filter to the fuel inlet and fuel outlet lines.
8. Connect the battery.
- Reattach the negative battery terminal cable.
9. Test the fuel pump.
- Turn the key to the "On" position without starting the engine.
- Listen for the fuel pump to run for a few seconds, priming the fuel system.
- Start the engine and check for any leaks.
10. Ensure proper fuel flow.
- Once the engine is running properly, drive the vehicle for a short distance to ensure that the fuel pump is working properly.
