- The first and most common cause of the add brake fluid light staying on is low brake fluid.
Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir (usually located under the hood or in the trunk).
If the fluid level is low, add enough fluid to bring it to the "full" mark.
Faulty Brake Fluid Level Sensor:
- The brake fluid level sensor may be faulty, causing the light to stay on even when the fluid level is sufficient.
Check the sensor(usually attached near the brake fluid reservoir) for any damage, corrosion, or loose connections.
Replace the sensor if necessary.
Air in the Brake System:
- Air in the brake system can cause the brake fluid level to appear low, even when it is not. This can activate the add brake fluid light. Bleed the brake system to remove any air pockets and ensure proper fluid flow.
Faulty Brake Light Switch:
- A faulty brake light switch can also cause the add brake fluid light to stay on.
This switch is located above the brake pedal and activates the brake lights when the pedal is depressed.
Inspect the switch for any damage or improper adjustment.
Replace it if necessary.
Electrical Issues:
- In rare cases, electrical issues such as short circuits or faulty wiring can cause the add brake fluid light to malfunction.
Have a trained technician inspect the electrical system of your vehicle for any problems.
