- Locate the timing inspection cover on the gear cover.
- Remove the cover and turn the engine until you can see the timing marks on the flywheel through the inspection hole.
- Align the timing marks on the flywheel with the pointer on the gear cover.
- Check the alignment of the injection pump pulley and the timing marks.
- Install a new timing belt if the marks are not aligned. To install a new timing belt, follow these steps:
- Loosen the tensioner bolt.
- Remove the old timing belt.
- Fit the new timing belt around the crankshaft and camshaft sprockets and around the tensioner pulley.
- Tighten the tensioner bolt to specifications.
- Reinstall the timing inspection cover.
