You will need:
* A new oil filter (check your owner's manual for the correct size)
* A new oil drain plug gasket (optional, but recommended)
* A funnel
* A bucket or drain pan
* Wrenches (10mm, 13mm, 14mm)
* Oil filter wrench (optional, but may make the job easier)
* Safety glasses
Step 2: Prepare the vehicle.
Park the vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down for a few minutes.
Step 3: Locate the oil drain plug and remove.
The oil drain plug is located on the bottom of the oil pan. It is typically a 14mm bolt. Place the bucket or drain pan under the oil drain plug to catch the oil. Use a 14mm wrench to loosen and remove the oil drain plug.
Step 4: Allow the oil to drain.
Allow the old oil to drain completely into the bucket or drain pan. This may take a few minutes.
Step 5: Replace the oil drain plug.
Once the oil has drained, replace the oil drain plug. Tighten the plug until it is snug.
Step 6: Locate the oil filter.
The oil filter is located on the side of the engine block. It is typically cylindrical in shape and black in color.
Step 7: Remove the oil filter.
Use an oil filter wrench to loosen and remove the oil filter. Be careful not to spill any oil.
Step 8: Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.
This will help to create a seal and prevent leaks.
Step 9: Screw on the new oil filter.
Hand-tighten the oil filter until it is snug. Do not over-tighten the oil filter.
Step 10: Add new oil to the engine.
Use the funnel to add new oil to the engine. Add the amount of oil specified in your owner's manual.
Step 11: Check the oil level.
Use the dipstick to check the oil level. The oil level should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick.
Step 12: Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
This will circulate the new oil throughout the engine.
Step 13: Check for leaks.
Look under the vehicle for any leaks. If you see any leaks, tighten the oil drain plug or oil filter until the leak stops.
