What is the ignition temperature?

Ignition temperature or kindling point of a substance is the lowest temperature at which the substance spontaneously ignites in the air without an external source of flame or spark.

At that temperature, the substance reacts exothermically with the oxygen in the air, releasing enough heat to maintain the combustion reaction. Below this temperature, the reaction rate is too slow to sustain the process.
