Where is the fuel filter on a 1983 Mercury Cougar V8?

The 1983 Mercury Cougar V8 does not have a replaceable fuel filter. Instead, the fuel filter is part of the sending unit assembly in the fuel tank. The fuel pump also is part of the sending unit assembly. These are replaced as one unit.
