Before you begin any work on your car, it is important to disconnect the battery. This will prevent any electrical accidents from happening. To disconnect the battery, simply use a wrench to loosen the negative terminal (the black one). Once the terminal is loose, pull it off of the battery post.
Step 2: Remove the serpentine belt.
The serpentine belt is a long, thin belt that wraps around several pulleys on the front of your engine. To remove the serpentine belt, you will need to use a wrench to loosen the tensioner pulley. Once the tensioner pulley is loose, you can slip the serpentine belt off of the pulleys.
Step 3: Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt.
The crankshaft pulley bolt is a large bolt that holds the crankshaft pulley in place. To remove the crankshaft pulley bolt, you will need to use a socket wrench. Once the crankshaft pulley bolt is removed, you can remove the crankshaft pulley.
Step 4: Remove the vibration damper.
The vibration damper is a large, round metal piece that is located behind the crankshaft pulley. To remove the vibration damper, you will need to use a puller. A puller is a special tool that is used to remove pulleys and gears from shafts. Once the vibration damper is removed, you can install the new one.
Step 5: Reinstall the crankshaft pulley.
Reinstall the crankshaft pulley in the reverse order of removal.
Step 6: Reinstall the serpentine belt.
Reinstall the serpentine belt in the reverse order of removal.
Step 7: Reconnect the battery.
Reconnect the battery by placing the positive terminal (the red one) back onto the battery post. Tighten the terminal with a wrench.
