* Floor jack and jack stands
* Socket set
* Flat-head screwdriver

* Replacement fuel pump
Procedure:
1. Park your Oldsmobile Silhouette on a level surface and turn off the engine.
2. Engage the parking brake.
3. Raise the rear of the vehicle using the floor jack and place the jack stands under the vehicle's frame.
4. Lower the vehicle onto the jack stands and ensure it is stable.
5. Locate the fuel pump access cover under the vehicle, near the rear axle.
6. Remove the fuel pump access cover using a flat-head screwdriver and hammer.
7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump.
8. Disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel pump by pressing the release tabs and pulling the lines off.
9. Remove the bolts holding the fuel pump in place.
10. Carefully lift the fuel pump out of the fuel tank.
11. Inspect the fuel pump and fuel tank for damage or debris.
12. Install the new fuel pump in the reverse order of removal.
13. Tighten the bolts that hold the fuel pump in place.
14. Reconnect the fuel lines and electrical connector to the fuel pump.
15. Replace the fuel pump access cover.
16. Lower the vehicle off the jack stands and remove the floor jack.
Note:
* Be sure to disconnect the negative battery terminal before beginning this procedure.
* Take precautions to avoid sparks or open flames near the fuel system.
* If you are not confident in performing this procedure, have it done by a qualified mechanic.
