1. Locate the OBD-II port. It is usually located under the dashboard, near the driver's side footwell.
2. Connect an OBD-II scanner to the port.
3. Turn on the ignition, but do not start the engine.
4. Select the "Read Codes" or "Diagnostic Trouble Codes" option on the scanner.
5. The scanner will display any stored trouble codes.
6. Once the codes are displayed, select the "Clear Codes" or "Erase Codes" option on the scanner.
7. The scanner will clear the trouble codes from the vehicle's computer.
8. Turn off the ignition and disconnect the scanner.
9. Start the engine and check that the check engine light is off.
Please note that if the underlying issue causing the check engine light to come on is not resolved, it may come back on again after resetting.
