How do you change 2000 jaguar s-type fuel pump?

Tools You Will Need

* Fuel line wrench

* Flat-head screwdriver

* Phillips-head screwdriver

* 8mm socket

* 10mm socket

* 13mm socket

* 17mm socket

* 24mm socket

* Safety glasses

* Gloves

Instructions

1. Park your vehicle in a well-ventilated area. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.

2. Engage the parking brake.

3. Relieve fuel system pressure. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. The fuel pressure regulator is located on the fuel rail by the back of the engine. Using a small flat bladed screwdriver, depress the schrader valve (looks like a tire valve) to release fuel system pressure.

4. Remove the rear seat bottom by lifting the front edge of the seat to unsnap it, then pulling the seat up and outward to remove it from the vehicle.

5. Locate the fuel pump access cover inside the trunk, just below the rear seat area on the passenger side of the vehicle. The access cover is held in place by four 8mm bolts. Remove the bolts and remove the cover.

6. Disconnect the electrical connections from the fuel pump. There are two main fuel pump electrical connections and one smaller connection that you'll need to disconnect. You will need a flat-head screwdriver to disconnect the clips. Take a picture of the electrical harness to use as a reference when you reattach the connectors later.

7. Unbolt the fuel pump from the fuel tank. There are four 13mm bolts that secure the fuel pump to the fuel tank. Remove the bolts and carefully remove the fuel pump from the tank.

8. Remove the fuel pump assembly. The fuel pump is held together with a locking ring located at the top of the assembly. Turn the locking ring with a flathead screwdriver (counter-clockwise) until the notch aligns with the arrow. The pump assembly will disconnect into two pieces.

9. Remove the fuel pump. Grab the fuel pump from the body of the assembly, then slide the pump downwards out of the assembly.

10. Transfer over all necessary hoses and the float assembly to the new fuel pump.

11. Carefully lower the new fuel pump assembly into the tank.

12. Reattach the locking ring by using a flat-head screwdriver. Insert the flat-head screwdriver into the gap near the arrow and ensure that the arrows are aligned with the notch. Turn the locking ring clockwise to lock it into place.

13. Reinstall the fuel pump to the fuel tank. Secure it with the four 13mm bolts.

14. Reattach the electrical connections.

15. Reinstall the fuel pump access cover.

16. Reinstall the rear seat.

17. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.

18. Start the vehicle and check for leaks.
