Detailed Instructions
Step 1: Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
This will prevent the car from starting while you are working on it.
Step 2: Remove the air cleaner.
The air cleaner is located on the top of the engine. To remove it, simply unlatch the two clips that hold it in place and lift it off.
Step 3: Remove the serpentine belt.
The serpentine belt is the belt that drives the alternator, water pump, and power steering pump. To remove it, loosen the tensioner pulley bolt with a 13mm wrench. Once the belt is loose, you can remove it from the pulleys.
Step 4: Remove the alternator mounting bracket.
The alternator mounting bracket is located behind the alternator. To remove it, you will need to remove the two bolts that hold it in place. Use a 17mm wrench to loosen the bolts. Once the bolts are loose, you can remove the bracket from the car.
Step 5: Remove the alternator from the engine compartment.
Once the alternator is loose, you can remove it from the engine compartment. To do so, simply lift it up and out of the car.
Alternator Removal Tips:
- If the alternator is difficult to remove, you can use a pry bar to help you get it out.
- Be careful not to drop the alternator when you are removing it.
- If you are having trouble removing the alternator, you can always take your car to a mechanic to have it done.
