In a 1985 Volkswagen cabriolet, the fuel pump is located under the rear seat. To access the fuel pump, remove the rear seat cushion, then remove the access cover located on top of the fuel pump. The fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank and can be removed by unbolting it and disconnecting its electrical connections.
