Procedure for removing starter
1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and turn off the engine.
2. Set the parking brake.
3. Open the hood of the car and disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
4. Remove the starter relay. It is located behind the front of the left intake manifold.
5. Remove the two bolts that hold the starter to the engine. They are located on the bottom of the starter.
6. Remove the two nuts that hold the starter to the transmission bell housing. They are located on the side of the starter.
7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the starter. It is located on the top of the starter.
8. Remove the starter from the car.
9. Be sure to install a new gasket between the starter and the engine block when you install the new starter
Procedure for installing starter
1. Lower the starter onto the dowel pins in the engine block and transmission bell housing.
2. Replace the nuts and bolts you removed earlier to secure the starter in place.
3. Connect the electrical connector to the starter.
4. Replace the starter relay.
5. Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
6. Start the car and check for proper operation of the starter.
