Instructions:
1. Park your car on a level surface. Apply the parking brake and put the car in "Park" (for automatic transmissions) or first gear (for manual transmissions).
2. Locate the spare tire and jack. The spare tire is typically located in the trunk or under the vehicle. The jack is usually found in the same place as the spare tire.
3. Loosen the lug nuts on the flat tire. Use the lug wrench to turn the lug nuts counterclockwise until they are loosened but not completely removed.
4. Place the jack under the car. Position the jack under the car, near the flat tire but not directly underneath it. Make sure the jack is stable and will not slip.
5. Raise the car with the jack. Use the jack to raise the car until the flat tire is off the ground.
6. Place wheel wedges behind the tires. Place wheel wedges behind the tires on the opposite side of the flat tire. This will help prevent the car from rolling.
7. Remove the lug nuts and take off the flat tire. Use the lug wrench to remove the lug nuts and then take off the flat tire.
8. Place the spare tire on the lug nuts. Hand-tighten the lug nuts until they are snug.
9. Lower the car with the jack. Use the jack to lower the car until the spare tire is on the ground.
10. Tighten the lug nuts with the lug wrench. Tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern, tightening each lug nut a little bit at a time until they are snug.
11. Lower the jack and remove the wheel wedges. Lower the jack and remove the wheel wedges.
12. Test the spare tire. Drive the car slowly for a short distance to test the spare tire. Make sure the tire is properly inflated and that there are no vibrations or other problems.
Note: If you are not comfortable changing a tire, you can call for roadside assistance.
