Method 1: With the key
1. Insert the key into the ignition switch and turn it to the "On" position.
2. Pull the small black knob labeled "Motorhaube" (German for "engine compartment") located in the lower center of the dashboard, just above the steering wheel.
3. The engine compartment will pop open.
Method 2: Without the key
1. Locate the small black cap on the front of the car, just above the license plate.
2. Pry off the cap with a screwdriver or other thin object.
3. Insert the key into the exposed keyhole and turn it to the right.
4. The engine compartment will pop open.
Once the engine compartment is open, you can access the engine and other mechanical components of the car. Be careful not to touch any of the hot parts of the engine.
