How to fix 97 Jetta GLS Power Window on back door off track?

To fix a 1997 Jetta GLS power window that has come off its track on the back door, you will need the following tools:

- Pliers

- 10mm socket wrench

- Flat-head screwdriver

- Phillips-head screwdriver

Step 1: Remove the door panel.

- Pry off the plastic cover from the door handle.

- Remove the two Phillips-head screws behind the door handle.

- Pry off the plastic cover from the door lock knob.

- Remove the two Phillips-head screws behind the door lock knob.

- Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry off the plastic retainer clips that hold the door panel in place.

- Lift up the door panel and remove it from the door.

Step 2: Locate the power window regulator.

- The power window regulator is located inside the door, behind the door panel.

- It is a metal frame that holds the window glass and moves it up and down.

Step 3: Remove the power window regulator.

- Use a 10mm socket wrench to remove the three bolts that hold the power window regulator in place.

- Disconnect the electrical connector from the power window regulator.

- Remove the power window regulator from the door.

Step 4: Put the window back on track.

- Place the window glass back in the track on the power window regulator.

- Make sure that the window glass is seated properly in the track.

Step 5: Reinstall the power window regulator.

- Insert the power window regulator back into the door.

- Reconnect the electrical connector to the power window regulator.

- Secure the power window regulator with the three bolts that you removed in Step 3.

Step 6: Reinstall the door panel.

- Align the door panel with the door and insert the retainer clips into the holes.

- Press on the door panel until it snaps into place.

- Replace the two Phillips-head screws behind the door lock knob.

- Replace the plastic cover from the door lock knob.

- Replace the two Phillips-head screws behind the door handle.

- Replace the plastic cover from the door handle.

Once you have completed these steps, the power window on the back door of your 1997 Jetta GLS should be fixed and working properly.
