To turn on your headlights:
1. Locate the headlight stalk: This is usually on the left side of the steering column (in the US). It'll have various positions.
2. Turn the stalk: You'll likely need to rotate the stalk away from the steering wheel (usually towards you) to turn on the headlights. There should be several positions:
* Off: The stalk will be in a neutral position.
* Parking lights: A slight turn of the stalk might activate only the parking lights (small lights at the front and rear).
* Headlights: A further turn will activate the headlights. This is usually a distinct "click" or noticeable position.
* High beams: Often there's a separate lever on the stalk (or a push/pull function on the main stalk) to activate the high beams. Pulling the stalk towards you usually activates high beams. Pushing it back turns them off.
If you're unsure: Experiment with gently rotating the stalk in both directions, paying attention to which lights turn on. Start with small movements to avoid accidentally activating the high beams in traffic. If you're still confused, refer to your owner's manual – it has diagrams and clear instructions.
